Gary L. Brown is Managing Director of the Firm. Mr. Brown, a native of Enid, has practiced law in Enid since 1981. He has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is also a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to returning to Enid, he was a tax manager with the Tulsa office of the national public accounting firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. Jerry E. Shiles has practiced in the areas of business transactional law, taxation, estate planning, family law and general litigation since 1974. Mr. Shiles served as a judge advocate with the U.S. Army in Europe from 1975 to 1978. He then practiced law in Europe until 1995, when he relocated to Washington, DC, first as a legal advisor to the Judge Advocate General of the Army and then as legal advisor to the Commandant of the Marine Corps. He returned to Oklahoma in 1998 to join the law firm of Brown and Associates. Mr. Shiles is a retired Colonel in the US Army Reserve and the recipient of the Department of Defense Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, the American Bar Association's Distinguished Service Award, and the Internal Revenue Service's Certificate of Recognition. Sarah J. Lane is a recent graduate of the University of Richmond Law School and joins the Firm as an Associate in the fall of 2002. In 2000, she served as a clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, in Richmond, Virginia; and in 2001, she served as a clerk to Judge James Benton of the Court of Appeals of Virginia. Ms. Lane has prior experience in the financial advisory industry and her practice areas include estate planning and business law. Sarah J.
